Being with my husband was so important, I left it to the experts
Many people come to Australia to be reunited with a partner or loved one and that was the case for our client Zainab.
Zainab, a pharmacist from Johannesburg in South Africa, married Adnaan, a structural engineer, who had migrated to Australia in his mid-teens. Adnaan was born in South Africa and it was through family that they were introduced.
“You could say ours has been a whirlwind romance. We first met in December 2015, became engaged in March 2016 and married in July 2016 and that’s when I first arrived in Australia. I’d never been to Australia before, so I agreed to marry him without knowing much about the country – I was lovestruck. We now have a daughter.”
Getting Professional Help from the Experts
“I wanted to be with my husband and do things in the correct way, so ultimately I could obtain residency and eventually citizenship,’ says Zainab.
“Securing a visa is complicated, there are lots of visas out there and migration law is constantly changing, I didn’t want to leave it to chance. On this occasion we felt very strongly that we should get expert advice, as there was a lot depending on its success,” Zainab explains.
Zainab and Adnaan decided to call in professional help from Fizah and Zahirah at Home of Visas.
“When you are planning your lives together and looking to the future, you don’t want anything to happen to alter that path you’ve chosen. The thought of submitting the wrong documents and not receiving visa approval was just something we couldn’t even contemplate.”
“So we put our trust in the two sisters, Fizah and Zahirah. My husband and I lead busy lives, so we didn’t want to do this on our own and have the anxiety which comes with that.”
We set about guiding the couple on what evidence they needed to provide for permanent partner residency, focusing on a large amount of proof that their relationship was genuine.
“Zahirah and Fizah wanted photographs, documentation such as our marriage certificate and my daughter’s birth certificate who was born last year. They gave me clear instructions,” Zainab adds.
Permanent Residency
The permanent residency took just under four months to come through.
“It was quicker than I anticipated. Now I have permanent residency I can make use of Medicare and other benefits,” says Zainab.
“Getting permanent residency is a weight off my shoulders. Until I received PR there was uncertainty.”
“Zahirah and Fizah at Home of Visas have set their standards high. I felt so confident and comfortable when I dealt with them. They are professional, yet friendly and highly knowledgeable. The process was stress-free and straightforward.”
“Further down the track I’d like citizenship. There’s such a diverse mix of people who live here, different identities and cultures. I feel proud to be part of it. I have my South African heritage which I can share with my daughter while embracing a new life here in Australia.”
